Here is a simple recipe for homemade pepparkakor (gingerbread cookie) dough. It’s ready in about 10 minutes and the pepparkakor cookies are crispy and christmassy.
Pro tip: Make things easier and chill the dough before you start to roll it out. After you cut out your perfect little heart shapes or gingerbread men place them on a cold plate to ensure that they do not stick and remember the thinner the pepparkakor cookies, the more crispy they become.
All the ingredients you need:
150 g butter
2.5 dl of sugar
0.5 dl sugar syrup
1 dl water
0.5 tablespoons ginger powder
0.5 tbsp clove powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon powdered cardamom
0.5 tbsp bicarbonate
7.5 dl flour
Directions:
Stir butter, sugar and syrup until mixture is smooth.
Add water, spices, bicarbonate and flour to a smooth pepparkakor dough. Place it in the fridge overnight.
Put the oven at 225 degrees.
Roll out a small portion of dough very thin and cut out shapes. Bake for about 5 minutes. Let them cool on the plate.
